Goan Roast Beef

Roast beef is a traditional Goan dish, essentially prepared as a main meal and can be enjoyed with potato fries. Leftovers are often used in sandwiches. You can also use the meat to make Goan Beef Chilly fry and it tastes so good.

πŸ‘‰πŸ» 2 kg – Beef, boneless
πŸ‘‰πŸ» 3/4 tsp – Jeerem Meerem powder
πŸ‘‰πŸ» 14 – Cloves
πŸ‘‰πŸ» 2” – Cinnamon stick
πŸ‘‰πŸ» 1-1/2 tbsp – Recheado masala
πŸ‘‰πŸ» 80 ml – Goan Vinegar
πŸ‘‰πŸ» 2 tbsps – Ginger – Garlic paste
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Salt to taste

πŸ‘‰πŸ» Wash and cut the meat into chunks.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Combine all the ingredients ensuring all the spices are rubbed well into all the meat chunks.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Cover the bowl with a cling film and let it marinate overnight in the refrigerator.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Next morning, remove the marinated beef from the refrigerator 30mins before cooking.

Other Ingredients:
πŸ‘‰πŸ» 2 nos – Onions, finely chopped
πŸ‘‰πŸ» 2 nos – Tomatoes, finely chopped
πŸ‘‰πŸ» 2 nos – Knorr Veg cubes
πŸ‘‰πŸ» 3 nos – Whole Kashmiri chillies
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Salt to taste
πŸ‘‰πŸ» 3 tbsps – Clarified Butter (Ghee)

πŸ‘‰πŸ» Heat ghee in a deep pot on a high flame.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Once hot, add the marinated beef and fry on all side. At this point, the beef chunks will get a bit firm whilst releasing its water.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» At this point, add the chopped onions, chopped tomatoes, whole red chilled, Knorr cubes, season with salt and add the remaining preserve. (Please do-not add extra water)
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Mix well. Cover and cook for 45 minutes on medium-low flame or until the water evaporates and the stock thickness, stirring occasionally.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Turn off the flame and Leave it to cool completely at room temperature.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Remove and slice the meat pieces into desired thickness.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Return the sliced meat back into its gravy, mix well.
πŸ‘‰πŸ» Serve and enjoy this delicious roast beef.
