Prawns Potato Chops

Prawns Potato Chops are one of Goa’s delicious snack or appetizer. These potato dumplings can be stuffed with different fillings and is best enjoyed when served hot with some ketchup.

Method – 1:

Ingredients for the stuffing:
👉🏻 25 – medium sized Prawns (cleaned, deveined, and cut into small bits)
👉🏻 1 tsp – Turmeric Powder
👉🏻 1 tsp – Red Chilli Powder
👉🏻 1 tsp – Cumin Powder
👉🏻 1 tsp – Coriander Powder
👉🏻 1 tbsp – Ginger – Garlic (finely chopped)
👉🏻 1 – Green Chilli (finely chopped)
👉🏻 1 – large Tomato (finely chopped)
👉🏻 2 nos – Onions (finely chopped)
👉🏻 1 tbsp – Recheado masala
👉🏻 1 tbsp – Butter
👉🏻 Handful of Coriander leave
👉🏻 Salt to taste

Process:
👉🏻 Marinate the prawns with turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and salt. Mix well and let it rest for 30mins.
👉🏻 Heat oil in a non-stick pan over a medium flame. Once hot, add the marinated prawns and fry for about 5 mins.
👉🏻 Add the finely chopped ginger garlic, chopped green chilli and saute for 2 mins.
👉🏻 Add the chopped tomato and let it cook till mushy.
👉🏻 Time to add the chopped onions and sauté till translucent.
👉🏻 Season with salt and add the recheado masala. Stir well.
👉🏻 Throw in the chopped coriander leaves. Mix well.
👉🏻 Lastly, add butter and give it a good stir. Keep aside to cool.


METHOD – 2:

Other Ingredients:
👉🏻 1kg – Potatoes
👉🏻 2 tbsps – Milk
👉🏻 2 nos – Eggs (well Beaten)
👉🏻 Semolina or Breadcrumbs for coating
👉🏻 Oil for frying
👉🏻 Salt to taste

Preparation:
👉🏻 Peel, wash, slice and boil the potatoes by adding enough water and salt untill soft.
👉🏻 Drain out and mash the boiled potatoes by adding 2 tbsps milk till completely smooth.
👉🏻 While the mashed potatoes are still warm, take a small portion on your palm and shape into a ball.
👉🏻 Make a depression into this ball and add sufficient prawn filling.
👉🏻 Bring the edges together to completely cover up the filling and gently shape them into a chop.
👉🏻 Dip this chop into a well beaten egg. Coat it with semolina or breadcrumbs.
👉🏻 Doing this process individually while the mashed potato is warm will avoid cracking the chops.
👉🏻 Take a pan on a medium high flame, add sufficient oil and shallow fry the chops on both side for about 3 mins each. You can even deep fry these chops.
👉🏻 Remove and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
👉🏻 Serve hot with some ketchup.
